Don't Sell Yourself Short.....Sell Yourself On Becoming A Homeowner
You work hard for your money, putting in long hours and returning home to your apartment. The money you've earned to pay for your rent hasn't come easy and as much as you want to purchase your own condo or house, does your goal seem so far away. After all, rents have continued to increase disproportionately to your salary and it's difficult to save that 20%. HUH???? Back up a minute.
If this thought process sounds familiar, then you might be like many others who simply have not investigated their options thoroughly, thus leaving them in the renter's black hole. Fortunately, it's not somewhere that you must remain because you have options. The first step is to contact a lender. If you do not have a trusted banker or loan agent, please let me know and I will forward you some lenders who have a proven track record and can help you.
Did you know that you can put as little as a 3% down through home ownership programs which are designed to encourage home ownership? The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan program requires only 3.5% down. Is owning a home starting to sound more like a reality yet?
And please, whatever you do, never assume that your credit score is not sufficient to obtain a home. Your lender is the only party who is privy to your personal credit information. It's also very normal to be apprehensive about someone looking into your credit, because we all worry about something "popping up. or our credit score not being as high as we’d prefer " As Realtors, we do not need or want any more information other than how much house you are qualified to purchase. You will be glad that you at least explored your options and you might actually be surprised at what you discover. Give it a try!
